1. Notify your insurance
No matter if you pay for your insurance coverage or it is given by Medicaid. You have to inform your insurance company (MCO) of this change. This is so they can update your records and have prenatal coverage benefits for all of your doctor visits and all pregnancy-related benefits.
Tip: Make sure you see what benefits you are now eligible for that you were not eligible for before being pregnant. For example, your dental coverage without you being pregnant would probably cost you a ton for dental work.
However, when you are pregnant dental work is almost always covered by insurance providers because your dental health is a priority to maintain good health for you and you’re unborn, while pregnant.
2. Find a Provider (OBGYN) and make an appointment
To all first-time moms, an OBGYN is your Gynecologist and Baby Doctor in one. Your current Gynecologist may also be an OB as well. If you need a new OBGYN, call your insurance. They will be able to give you a full list of all your local OBGYN providers.
Tip: You still keep your main provider during your pregnancy, for your health outside of your baby. However, you will be seeing way more of your OBGYN during these 9 months so you will feel like your OBGYN is your main doctor.
3. Cut back on any bad eating habits
If you have an unhealthy eating habit this is the time to whip that into shape. Fried foods, sweets, starchy foods, and sodas should be decreased tremendously. It’s not just for your health, but for your little one as well. Get a list of all foods you have to avoid, from your health care provider(OBGYN).
4. Stop any unhealthy habits
Okay, you should not take part in any of these unhealthy habits. But if so, as soon as you find out that you are pregnant (or if you are trying) stop these unhealthy habits. Stop smoking, drinking, using any drugs, and any unhealthy habits like abusing yourself in any way. Seek help if you need help stopping any unhealthy behavior whether you are pregnant or not. You are worth it!
5. Maintain Peace and De-Stress
A person should always try to be in a non-stressful life. Life is stressful itself and it’s just some stressors that we can’t avoid like bills. Then there are some avoidable stressors like our relationships with others and our workplace. Look at your life and eliminate all stressors when the time is right for you.
