Isn’t It Better To Work a 9 to 5?

Working a full-time job in America has its perks for sure. Let’s highlight some of them.

  • Benefits- Everyone needs insurance. Most full-time jobs have amazing benefits, that is not only for the employee but their immediate family as well.
  • 401k and Pension- This is a retirement plan that is sponsored by the company. This is a plan that is finically built upon throughout the years of employment. Once the employee is ready to retire they can supplement their 401k/pension for their now monthly income.
  • Social Environment- You are used to the same routine which can be therapeutic. You are able to socialize with other co-workers, which can make your day go by even faster. And make your job life, less borrinng.

Those were some main highlights of the benefits of working for a company.

The Cons of Working For Someone Else

  • Your Not The Boss- When you are working for someone else, it is basically their way or the highway. How many times have you worked for a company and just hated a rule or protocol that they had in place?
  • Clock In- How many times have you been late for work? Stuck in traffic and so on?
  • Calling Out- I hate having to call out for work. One that was income that was loss on my paycheck. Second, I didn’t want to always have had to call out. But hey when your kids are sick. Everyone else that can watch the kids are at work and they can’t go to daycare or school sick. You have to do what you have to do. But with 3 kids it seemed like it was always one of my kids to be sick. One would catch it and they took turns having it.

Blogging For Money (Self Employed)

It is not such a bad thing with working for yourself. But then it is. It is something you definitely have to weigh out, depending on your circumstances.

There are many jobs that you can snag to successfully work from home or blog for money. But before telling your boss to kick rocks, I would see which is the best for you.

The Pros of Working For Yourself

  • Set Your Own Hours- You get to pick what hours you want to work. And what hours you don’t. Period.
  • More Time- You have more time on your hands to be creative with your business. More time to spend with your kids.

Working for yourself is being able to go have lunch with your kids at school without clocking out of work. And I love it! #BloggingMoms #AskAboutMyBlogBiz

The Cons Of Working For Yourself

  • No Benefits- There are no benefits for insurance or anything that is a clutch of security for you automatically. This has to be purchased. And the fee is not a walk in the park. But is not impossible either.
  • You are your team- Starting out especially working for yourself you have to wear many hats. And if you are a mom this is stresssfulll honey. As moms we already wear multiple hats. So working for ourselves with no team of support behind us is a whole notha’ ball game.
  • Taxes- You have to pay for everything that you make.

You need someone to be able to tell you what to do. Where to go. And the outcome that you will get from it all.

Now, people usually do hire a VA (virtual assistant) or Blog Coach to help them out with those concerns. Starting out I didn’t do either. I was stingy with my money because I had to be. I was a mom of 3 that could not throw out $800 minimum to someone I didn’t know to get the job done. A year later I wish I did hire someone. But just not for that price.

If I had hired someone I would have had more time to write and perfect my material and market it. Instead, I had my hands in all the technicalities and all. The good thing about me teaching myself. I know have the knowledge to help out other beginner bloggers.

I have the same knowledge as a full-service company that will charge you 3k for the work I will do for a fraction of that. My VA Blogging Service and Blog Coaching Service have been getting bloggers out there on the web in no time. View my services here.

Conclusion

I would not quit my 9 to 5. Actually making money from blogging will take time. And even longer if you don’t know what you are doing. What I did was I still worked at my job for a company. But at night I would pull in at least 4 hours teaching myself and putting those steps into place. One effective strategy that was productive, but did not overwhelm me. I would study one night. As I’m just doing some relaxed nightly phone reading.

I would lay back and read a couple Pinterest blog posts about how to make money from blogging. And the next night I would implement what I read the night before. And I would alternate that…study…than do it…back and forth. Than before you know it my blog tasks for the week is done. And I have that much more knowledge on it.
