Fixing Mistakes To Become A Successful Blogger

Oh the wonderful world of blogging. It’s a true survival of the fittest. Every blogger is scratching to be at the top. And if your just starting out, you will feel intimidated. And discouraged. You may even want to give up. I know this all too well, because I too went through those exact same phases.

Then, I realized. This is my dream. Being able to stay at home with my children while making a living. Nothing that’s worth having comes easy. And with that being said. I said “Game on”.

This post contains Amazon affiliate links. I only recommend products and services that I have used and loved or that had great reviews. Enjoy!

Mistakes Can Happen To Anyone

When your first starting out in any business. Mistakes will happen. That’s life. You live and you learn. I often remind my kids of how Thomas Edison had 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at getting the light bulb to work. However, he never gave up. I also had my mistakes that I have learned and Im still learning today. But my goal is to share all the content that I discovered over the time. This will cut your blogging time in half. And get you making money faster.

1. Name

Go to settings. From there go to your name. Instead of just having your name .

Do this : your name| Business Description.

So now, my Pinterest Name is :

Lastar| Blogging & Time Mang

(They only give you 30 characters or under)

2. Description

Writing a quick description of what your goal is. This will grab pinners in. You have 160 characters to sell your brand(website) and tell them why they should follow you.

3. Not Keywording Boards

This is something that almost every serious blogger need to change now. So instead of your food boards being named things like ‘oh so cute’ or ‘yummy foods’. Name your boards things that someone will actually search for. I know I hate that I had to change my cute unique board names. But hey, Pinterest is a search engine just like google. Everything that you write on here should contain words that people actually will search for. This is what will get your pins displayed.

4. Not Pre planning

I’m pretty sure you have a lot more on your plate, than to be on the computer scheduling posts every few hours. It’s pointless. You need to get signed up with Tailwind now. I love it because they give you this cool 30 day trial. Plus you can load up all your posts and have them scheduled to be sent out for up to a month. Yes, a month. Sign up with Tailwind today through this discounted link. Let Tailwind take care of the scheduling. So you can have more time to build your blog to be a success.

Tip: You can still manually schedule things on Pinterest on your down time. But if you don’t your content is still being shared, when Pinterest audience is active.

I have 3 kids and I am a licensed cosmetologist. So planning is key to my sanity. But with my new business venture as a marketing entrepreneur, web developer, blogger or whatever I feel like calling it. (All those titles are included in being a blogger). Anyway, schedule your week out.

5. Networking

Networking is as simple as giving advice to a fellow blogging busy bee. One of my mistakes starting out was thinking just to plaster all of social media with my work and services. I would join groups and promote promote. I will even say in a couple of groups early on so got banned. Haha! I was so focused on promoting my sales pitch I would copy and paste it to every group I Joined without looking at the rules.

Now, you can absolutely promote. But you have to make sure the group you are in allows self promotion. Most groups has self promo days. On these days you will able to promote. My Facebook group does just that. Join here

What Are Good Networking Strategies:

  • Make virtual friends in the same niche
  • Help and applaud one another
  • Share your personal experiences in your work from home journey
  • Only offer your services if you see someone is asking for it

How Will This Help My Business?

You are building trust. That is the first line of gaining sales. Yes, we all would just like to promote our services and gain sales right off the bat. But this is online marketing you have to not seem needy. You need to make the potential customer need your services.

How to bring your networking friends to your business is this. Offer a hand in advice. Hang out in group chats, see who is looking for help. Offer your honest help and advice FOR FREE. Not your service but just a tad bit of advice. They will be really appreciative. They will keep you in mind if they need any more help. And when they do let them be able to find your services easily. Have your services url on your Facebook page and what you do. You can then also offer them your services if they ask for more assistance.
