If you reached this page you probably have a curiosity about starting a blog. You may have read of all those people
that started a blog and now they are making thousands of dollars monthly. While all of this will initially spark your
motivation, is that enough to keep you going?
Being a blogger has its great benefits. Once you become successful
you can make money in your sleep (literally). You can eventually quit your 9 to 5 (once you have a solid base income
for some time). And a plus for all including me, you can stay home with your kids instead of sending them to
daycare. You have to “learn the ropes”. Once you learn things bit by bit, then you are on your way. Don’t be
discouraged because I too was amazed by the fact that I can write about what I love, connect with other moms,
make a stable income, and most of all stay at home with my children. So I will guide you step by step and give you
the resources to make your dreams come true. Are you ready? Let’s Go.
You Can Do It

1. What Do You Want To Blog About?
So this is where you talk about what you love. Don’t think it’s going to sound dumb or it won’t be something interesting. There are many people that blog about skateboards or plants …and guess what they still make a good living. But my advice is to compromise a little. Let me explain….when you go to do a google search what do you generally look for? Something that’s going to help you or be beneficial to you, right? There you go. Find something that will benefit someone else. But also something that you can elaborate on.
Here are some ideas:
- Recipes- If you have a love for food, this is for you. You can explore so many topics on a food blog. “The best Italian food spots in your city”, “The first time you tasted (a foreign food of your choice), keto diet recipes, cheap and healthy eats for the whole family and the list goes on.
- Mommy Blog- A mommy blog is a blog that has beneficial information for moms and their kids
- Money Management- Are you frugal and have tons of tips on how to save and make money? Guess what America would love to know
So you see blogging is anything that you love and that can help others.
2. Choose A Hosting Platform
A Hosting Platform is a home for your blog. It puts the M In money for your blog. It’s what connects your blog to the world. Having your blog hosted is what will connect your blog to Google search engines and more. You just simply can’t make money from your blog without having a company host you.
Second, you need a blogging platform.
A blogging platform is where you will build/write your blog. The top two sites are wordpress.org and wix.com.
This site is running off of wordpress.org.
I know this is a lot to process. So think of it like this.
You want to build a house. But you need land or location for your property. (That’s your hosting).
Now you have your land/location. (Hosting)
Than you need your house(your blog)
I use Bluehost.com for my hosting. And let me tell you they are awesome. They are so awesome they made it easy for us bloggers they added wordpress.org into their site.
Sign up with my link and receive a discounted rate upon sign up.
Go to www.bluehost.com/mylink. You will see this page below
Once you click the green sign up button, you will come to this screen. Click the basic package $2.95/month. (Depending on the time you sign up the offer may go up to $3.95 but with my special link you will avoid paying higher)
3.Choose A Domain Name
Once you sign up with Bluehost (wordpress.org included), you will be prompted to make a free domain. A domain is the address of your site. Get fancy stand out. Let it describe you and your site.
Check the availability of your domain here:
Some of my favorites are:
There are many more that I may have forgotten. But these just stuck out to me. Not only does their web name leave a lasting impression, so does their content.
4. Choose Theme
Themes are how your page will be designed. If you just started out don’t pay for one. Honestly, never pay for one. My whole website has a free theme. (Ashley Theme). Yes, you can tweak and change what you want on your blog with something called plugins. They are mainly free and just type in what you’re looking for and it will give you a plugin for that. A plugin is just basically an app for your blog.
Congratulations, Now You Too Have A Blog.
