How I Have Been Surviving The Pandemic With Kids

To say, this time last year we was all living in our last days of pure freedom. Concerts, schools, work and so much more. We truly miss the little things in life, when they are no longer accessible.

Even though for some time I have been a work at home mom prior to Covid, now it truly is different.

I can’t send my kids off to school, so I have the day to meet with my clients uninterrupted.

Now, its juggling three kiddos on 3 different grade levels. Cooking lunches, looking out for my Amazon deliveries (we all have doubled up on online orders…ugh lol) and working.

Even though, things have been very hectic. I’m going to share the most real tactics and tips that has been keeping my family and I afloat.

1. Safeway Delivery

I shop at three main grocery stores. Walmart for all the snacks and canned goods. Safeway for meats, fruits, veggies and so on.

Safeway delivery has been amazing. You download the app or do it online. You can choose to pick up your order. Which its brought to your car.

You can also have it delivered right to your home. For it to be delivered to your home, you need to pay with a credit or debit card only.  However, for pickup you can pay when upon arrival, with food stamps or credit/debit card.

* Twice I was missing one item and I made it known. And I asked if my items could be brought to my home and it was.

Since I recently, broke my ankle, this is a major help. I can still get the grocery shopping experience without leaving the comfort of my home.

*There is a small delivery fee under 6.00

2. Quiet Time

Give yourself an hour to yourself if not more. Have your kids to go in a separate room and quietly occupy themselves.

Here are some quiet ideas for your kids to stay entertained, while mom is having relax time.

Check out this post on 3 reasons this mom does quiet time, when her kids no longer nap.

3. YouTube

Yes, YouTube has saved the day. Many times when schoolwork was done, and the kids just wanted some relax unwind time. Appropriate Youtube videos are fun, entertaining and very educational.

* I recommend using YouTube Kids app.

4. PBS Kids

I highly and again highly recommend PBS kids for learning in a fun non boring way.

Your kids will learn so much from these shows. I love Nick Jr as well. However, PBS kids is free. You do not need a subscription/cable or streaming device.

So, even though I love having cable/streaming to catch our shows that is not on free tv. PBS Kids has so much old school educational values.

5. Streaming

I am truly grateful for my streaming services. While having cable, we end up using our streaming services more. Because they just have more customizable options.

For example:

  • Each family member can have their own profile. Once each profile is added, that user can add shows and content that interests them. So it pops up when they click their profile, once the app is launched. Easy right?
  • DVR recording

And so much more.   You can try them out for yourselves, with my special offers, when used my links.

6. Toys and Gadgets

If you can add more toys and Gadgets for an affordable price for your kids, if they earn it. But honestly,  through this crazy year last year and new year we are still.in. I think all kids deserve a little token of some stress relief.

Conclusion

They are so many other things that have helped me work better too. Once I write that post up. I will link it here.

I hope everyone stays safe and try to find joy in the little things.
