How To Build An Email List?

I will be the first person to say, “I did not build an email subscriber list.” It was boring, to me and I felt it was unnecessary. I’m not going to ask people to sign up for an email list. That would mean that I would have to send out emails every so often. That’s more on my to-do list of blogging.

But I will tell you that was one of the mistakes I made early on. It is true what they say, “it(the money) is in the list.” Don’t be like me. Listen build your list today. And I will walk you through it step by step.

What is an email list?

An email list is a group of people that willingly signed up for your website. No matter if you have a blog or just a website. Do you ever see those forms that ask you to add your name and email address to receive notifications about the site.

This is an opt-in form. Once you opt-in on this form, you are now a subscriber on their email list. This is what you need to do if you want to gain returning users and money.

Why Build An Email List?

This is when they say it is on the list. Yes, I know I said it a thousand times now.

I’m just trying to push the point to you, if you still feel it is unnecessary.

Trust

Once someone signs up for your email list. That means two things. They found your information valuable and interesting. Two they trust you to deliver them more greatness to their inbox.

This is your supporters for your site. If you have even 5 people on your list starting out, that’s 5 potential customers. They are familiar with your site and will be your leads when you are trying to promote your products and services.

More Personal

Unlike social media, your customers will see your post right in their inbox. On social media, if you share your content, it is a 50/50 that your friends/readers will see it.

However, when they are on your email list, you have their full attention. Now you do have people that will sign up and will hardly open your emails. It happens to us all. Read this post on how to get your subscribers to open your messages and to interact.

  11. This is a great resource. I have mailchimp currently but I really don’t find them user friendly. I heard great things about mailerlite and converterkit – which of these two do you recommend and what’s the main difference?

    1. Thank you. Mailerlite and Convertkit has the same main features like automation, email designing, landing pages,opt-in forms and more. Mailerlite is the best because most of the main features you can easily do on their free plan. They free plan is free up to 1k subscribers. On Convertkit 0 to 1k subscribers is 29.00/month. Starting out I would not pick Convertkit.
